Help Us Find Our Forever

A forever family for a shelter senior dog is like winning the lottery. Someone sees their loyalty and unconditional love and takes a chance on them. The family is rewarded with that senior’s undying devotion. They will never forget that you chose them, and they will pick you every day for the rest of their lives.

Sometimes, dogs come to the sanctuary, and they are adopted before we even get to know them. Others remain for months and years, yearning for a family to rescue them and bring them home. For King, Humphrey, Zeek, Dempsey, Lennox, and Charlie forever hasn’t found them yet. We’re hopeful that this will change, and want to provide more information about each dog to help them find a loving family.

The King of our sanctuary is a mixed-breed, 10-year-old goofball who has effortlessly rocked many events and outings. King shows affection and charm to everyone he meets, and has stolen our hearts time and time again. While he may be 10, he acts like a puppy through his playfulness, fetching, and youthful spirit. You’ll never see him turn down a belly rub, and he’s been wonderful with our other dogs. King is the bees' knees of dogs!

Humphrey has been in foster care for a while now, and he’s thriving. This 13-year-old hound mix proves that old dogs can indeed learn new tricks. His loving foster family has taught him how to sit and wait at mealtimes, and he’s learning to take treats more gently. We all understand being excited about treat time, so we get it! Humphrey also walks for over a mile daily, and keeps up with the foster’s 2-year-old Golden Retriever. Knowing more about a home life has given Humphrey the advantage of acclimating to a forever family!

Our sweet Zeek has the most beautiful eyes and the kindest heart. A 6-year-old Labrador Retriever, Zeek, is active and loves to play. He would thrive in a family where he is the center of attention. Through training at the sanctuary, Zeek has learned several commands and continues to flourish. He would make a great addition to a family seeking an active dog with many years of love ahead!

Dempsey, you had us at your gray muzzle. This 8-year-old boxer rarely gets applications or interest, and we just can’t understand why. He gets excited when he sees volunteers and delivers kisses at every opportunity to show his affection. We’re working on training him to exhibit a calmer demeanor, and he’s doing fantastically. He’s participated in outings and events, and has performed well with everyone who wants to cuddle and meet him. Dempsey needs you in his life!

Lennox was brought to us along with Dempsey when his family could no longer care for them. They aren’t bonded, but have a brother relationship that involves tug-of-war and sparring at every opportunity. Lennox is a mixed-breed American Staffordshire Terrier with soulful eyes and a playful personality. At 9 years, he still showcases the heart of a young pup and would be yours for years to come. Our trainer is teaching him how to be calmer on a leash and not jump, and he’s getting rave reviews. He would make a family whole, and we know his person is out there.

Recently, Charlie was returned to us through no fault of his own. A loving family fostered him before he was adopted, and they taught him many commands that have helped him thrive. He’s only 7 years old, so there's so much life and love left for him to give to a forever family. Charlie gives everyone he meets a happy greeting and can’t get enough cuddles. His zoomies are hilarious, showcasing his delightful spunk! He needs to find the love he deserves, and we know he will.

These dogs are loved at the sanctuary. Volunteers and fosters can’t get enough of them and speak so highly of each one. Please consider adopting one of these wonderful seniors and helping them win the dog lottery–a lifetime of love with a forever family!
